Sunny and Falkor Yarn
This beautiful, lofty yarn is the result of a REAL MAINE agricultural partnership with Cape Newagen Alpaca Farm in Southport Maine and Midgard Meadows in Washington, Maine.
I wanted to create a special, all natural blend of our alpaca with sheep raised in Maine, from a farm that treats the environment with care, as we do. We also wanted to support our local Maine mill, Aroostook Fiber Mill up in the County. This is an example of "Real Maine", fiber from animals raised in Maine, with care for the ecological footprint created by us.
Midgard Meadows' lambswool was the perfect fit for our alpaca Sunny, with her low micron levels for a next to skin softness, and her long staple length! Falkor, Midgard Meadow's 1/2 Finn/Icelandic sheep, is the main contributor from Midgard Meadows to this lofty blend. He matches Sunny's micron levels and adds a bit of crimpy structure to create memory to the yarn.
Our Sunny and Falkor yarn is a two ply, worsted weight blend leaning toward a DK width. Lofty and so soft, perfect for mittens, hats, scarves! Recommended needle size - approx. 5-8, crochet hook, F-H, depending on your intended swatch and pattern. You will treasure working with our yarn as much as the end product!
